In the spring of 2018, Congaree led a group of private golf clubs and nonprofits to offer the first girls’ golf instruction class at the local Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School. This effort was met with overwhelming enthusiasm by the students.
In the program’s first year, 102 young women signed up. The program continues to thrive by introducing young people in the local community to golf through instruction offered during high school PE classes. The program later expanded to include young men and special needs students from the high school and students from the Polaris Tech Charter School with 275 total students participating.
To support this exciting initiative,
Congaree Foundation has committed resources to maintaining the practice field and driving range at Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School, which is now accessible to the broader community.
